As previously indicated, the club have decided to run a new format DOUBLES AND MIXED DOUBLES BOX LEAGUE.
This league will be run alongside the ongoing Singles Box Leagues and will follow a very similar pattern. Players are welcome to play in both the Singles and Doubles Box Leagues but only enter both leagues if you are willing to commit the time to play all of your matches.
Structure
As with the singles box league, pairings will be placed in boxes of 4 or 5 pairs of a similar standard and as such the box league format will cater FOR PLAYERS OF ALL ABILITIES . Boxes will be made up of mixed, mens and ladies doubles pairings (ie no separation of men, women or mixed).
FINDING PARTNERS
Players are free and encouraged to find their own partner for this league.
If you are not able to find a partner and you wish to play in the doubles league this is also fine as the committee will endeavour to allocate you a partner. To be clear, this will be done by approximate grading of non paired players and a random pick of partner within this grading. Therefore, it is important if you enter without a partner, that you recognise there will be no changing of partners after the initial draw and you will be expected to complete all your matches in Round 1 of the league with that partner.

Players will need to complete their 4 matches by a given date (Approx 6 weeks)
There will be promotion and demotion after each league which will also be subject to withdrawals and new joiners at the end of each round(month). Final changes to each box league at the end of each round will be at the discretion of the committee
As this is a trial period for the Doubles Box League, the committee will need to review the league as it progresses and decide on how pairings are agreed for future rounds.
SCORING AND LEAGUE TABLES for the league will be handled through the online booking system, which all members are now using. Select on leagues from top menu to enter your scores
PLAYED MATCHES : SCORING
1 point per set won and 1 point to each player for playing each match
2 sets (win by 2- tiebreak at 6-6) and championship tiebreak (first to 10 win by 2)
(Eg Win 2-1 you get 3 pts opponent get 2pts / Don’t play the match both players get no points )
Winner responsible for writing scores
WALK OVERS, SCORING & RULES:
Person giving W/O writes: 0 in their box.
Person taking W/O writes: 2 in their box
Winner responsible for writing scores
ARRANGING GAMES:
It will be useful if one member in each box sets up a Wattsapp group for that box at the start of the Round.
If a person texts you to arrange games, please reply AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
PLEASE be fair to your opponent and give a walk-over if you can’t play within the allocated timelines and a person has made effort to arrange matches with you.
If you do not play your matches and do not reply to texts or explain to organiser, you may be dropped at the organiser’s discretion and will have to rejoin when a place becomes available.
IMPORTANT: If a person does not reply to ANY of your texts try CALLING – If there is no response by the end of a round you MAY take a Walk-Over but you must text to confirm with the league organiser.
