2026 Singles Ladder Updates and rules

Hi [[firstname]],

A few updates regarding the ladder:

1. The new ladder has been ranked.
The top 6 players from the previous ladder have been reinstated at the top, and everyone else has been randomly shuffled throughout.

2. New entrants t o the ladder from now on will join at the bottom, and will have to work their way up to their rightful position!

3. The entry fee is £10 - You can pay by Bank Transfer (Preferred), or you can put the money in an envelope, marked with your name and "Ladder", and place it in the red box in the clubhouse.

4. Inactivity - The length of time before inactive players are automatically removed from the ladder has been changed from 30 days in the previous ladder up to 90 days now - so hopefully this won't be an issue this time around.

5. WHO CAN ENTER

This ladder is open to all club members aged 16 and over

It is FOR ALL PLAYERS OF ALL STANDARDS and is a great way to get to know other members of the club - as it progresses and more people join you will be able to pick players to play at your own standard or just above depending on your preference. You can also refuse any challenges at your own choice.

RULES

  • Players may challenge up to 3 positions higher.
  • The player who ignores or declines a challenge looses (forfeits) by default.
  • Challenges are considered "ignored" if neither accepted nor declined after 7 days.
  • The Challenger may withdraw an ignored challenge at any time without penalty.
  • Accepted challenges auto-expire if match result not submitted within 8 days of acceptance. They are then deemed to be forfeit by the player challenged.
  • When a player with a lower position defeats a player with a higher position, the lower position player takes the higher position and the defeated player is "bumped down" to the next lowest position.
  • When a higher position player defeats a lower position player, the ladder positions remain the same.
  • Inactive players without challenges made or challenges accepted within the last 90 days will be automatically removed.
  • Although either player may submit the result once the challenge has been accepted, it's the winner's responsibility to submit the result as soon as possible after the match has been played.
  • Sportsmanship: All matches should be played in a respectful and friendly spirit. Disputes will be resolved by the Ladder Coordinator.
  • Players are asked not to challenge the same player two matches in a row. In the interests of fairness, you should look to play at least one other player before re challenging a previous opponent..
  • Automatic Email Notifications:

This application will automatically notify challenged players until the challenges are either accepted or forfeited, or withdrawn by the challenger, or until the challenges are considered ignored and forfeited.
The messages are sent to the challenged players on a daily basis at 10.15 am.
There is no opting-out from these automatic email notifications other than withdrawing from the ladder.
It's the player's responsibility to ensure their email settings allow messages sent from "Enniskillen Lawn Tennis Club ".
