SEPT_OCT MIXED SINGLES BOX LEAGUE - Update Groups 2/3/4/5

Following a late withdrawal please see attached the updated groups.

Only changes are to groups 2, 3, 4 and 5

While there are 2 months to complete matches please try and complete your 4 matches as early as possible. Be aware that courts will be busy throughout Sept and Oct as closed (next week) , Autumn League (October), coaching and club nights are now all back up and running.

Given the closed tournament will mean their are n courts available for singles next week and the continued high entry levels in the singles box league, we have decided to spread the next box league over two months.

All matches in the Sept-Oct Single box league are to be completed by Sunday 1st November.

Please find below and attached the arrangments for the Sept_Oct round of the SINGLES BOX LEAGUE covering

  • Boxes including opponent names and contact details
  • Scoring rules
  • Arranging matches

BASIC DETAILS

PLAYERS WILL NEED TO BOOK COURTS ONLINE FOR THEIR MATCHES AND FOLLOW THE COVID19 GUIDELINES FOR TENNIS IN FULL

• PLEASE MAKE THE MAXIMUM EFFORT TO PLAY ALL 4 MATCHES.

• PLEASE BE FAIR AND GIVE A WALK-OVER IF YOU CAN'T PLAY YOUR MATCH IN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME

TO FACILITATE ARRANGEMENT OF MATCHES ALL PLAYERS MUST SHOW THEIR MOBILE NO. ON THE COURT BOOKING SYSTEM (Check your privacy settings when you sign in to court booking system)

• SCORING AND LEAGUE TABLES for the league will be handled through the online booking system, which all members are now using.

COMPETITION RULES AND SCORING

COMPETITION RULES:

  • Players will need to complete their 4 matches by 1st November 2020
  • There will be 2 up / 2 down promotion and demotion from each box at the end of Oct.
  • In cases of a two way tie the head to head result will determine the order
  • In cases of a three way tie the points diffence will determine the order
  • As before the committee retain discretion at the end of each league to adjust placings outside the 2 up / 2 down system.

MATCHES : SCORING

  • 1 point per set won and 1 point to each player for playing each match
  • 2 full sets (win by 2- tiebreak at 6-6) and championship tiebreak (first to 10 win by 2)
  • (eg1 : Win 2-1 you get 3 pts opponent get 2pts)
  • (eg2 : Win 2-0 you get 3 pts opponent get 1pts)
  • (eg3 : Win by walkover - You get 2 pts / opponent gets 0)
  • (eg4 : Dont sort out the walkover - both players get no points )
  • Winner responsible for enterring scores via online booking system.

ARRANGING GAMES:

  • If a person texts you to arrange games, please reply AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
  • PLEASE be fair to your opponent and give a walk-over if you can’t play and a person has made fair efforts to arrange alternative matches with you.
  • If you do not play your matches and do not reply to texts or explain to organiser, you may be dropped at the organiser’s discretion and will have to rejoin when a place becomes available.
  • IMPORTANT: If a person does not reply to ANY texts try CALLING – If there is no response by the end of a round you MAY take a Walk-Over but you must text (Mark 07920057426 / Maxine 07719 304254) to explain
  • PLEASE ENSURE ALL WALKOVERS ARE RELAYED TO MARK OR MAXINE BY THE END OF THE LEAGUE
