NOW LIVE - MIXED SINGLES LADDER
Hi [memberID]
The New Format Singles Ladder is now up and running .
We have removed all challenges which fail with initial rankings.
If you have enterred you can now issue challenges to the people 1,2 and 3 above you.
If you have not entered you can add your name to the bottom of the ladder, pay in £10 to the club bank account and start to issue/accept challenges.
If people are removed from the ladder due to being inactive they can re-add themselves to the bottom of the ladder without paying a second entry fee.
Players may play both ladders for the one £10 entry.
Rules:
-
Players may challenge up to 3 positions higher.
-
The player who ignores or declines a challenge looses (forfeits) by default.
-
Challenges are considered "ignored" if neither accepted nor declined after 7 days.
-
The Challenger may withdraw an ignored challenge at any time without penalty.
-
Accepted challenges auto-expire if match result not submitted within 8 days of acceptance. They are then deemed to be forfeit by the player challenged.
-
When a player with a lower position defeats a player with a higher position, the lower position player takes the higher position and the defeated player is "bumped down" to the next lowest position.
-
When a higher position player defeats a lower position player, the ladder positions remain the same.
-
Inactive players without challenges made or challenges accepted within the last 24 days will be automatically removed.
-
Although either player may submit the result once the challenge has been accepted, it's the winner's responsibility to submit the result as soon as possible after the match has been played.
-
Sportsmanship: All matches should be played in a respectful and friendly spirit. Disputes will be resolved by the Ladder Coordinator.
-
Players are asked not to challenge the same player two matches in a row. In the interests of fairness, you should look to play at least one other player before re challenging a previous opponent..
More details below.
We are trying out a new singles LADDER format to help members arrange more matches against opponents of similar levels and to enable members to progress their ranking within the club.
While the Singles Box Leagues have been popular it has been frustrating for a number of players who are keen to complete all of their matches but struggle to get other box members to complete their matches.
The LADDER is different in that only players who intend to play should join. Players who are inactive in the ladder for 24 days are automatically removed and will need to rejoin at the bottom if they wish to continue. A player is inactive if they have not made a challenge or accepted a challenge in the last 24 days. If removed, players can reenter at the bottom of either ladder without additional fee.
There are two ladders and it is up to each player to decide for themself which they wish to play in.
-
Ladder 1 : Competetive or
-
Ladder 2 : Social & Competitve.
Both leagues will be competitive but it is envisaged that the Social & Competitive Ladder will facilitate those members looking for less pressurised matches.
Entry will be £10 per player.
This ladder is open to all club members aged 16 and over
Subject to player response the ladders are expected to run until 6th Jan 2026.
