JUNIOR BOX LEAGUE IS NOW LIVE - RULES & DETAILS

Thank you for entering the Junior Box League.

Junior Box League Rules

To keep the club compliant with Tennis Ireland child protection guidelines a parent should stay with the players during their match.

Players should complete all of their matches by Monday 31st August

TRY TO PLAY YOUR GAMES AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE TO AVOID UNFINISHED GROUPS

Please limit online court bookings to 60 mins, arrive early & complete warmup within 5 mins.

Players should score the match themselves wherever possible, making line calls for their side of the court only.

Parents should only get involved if the players ask for help with keeping score.

MATCHES : SCORING

  • Matches are one full set with a tiebreak at 6 - 6.
  • Tiebreaks are first to 7 win by 2.
  • Deuces are short deuce with the receiver choosing which side to receive the ball on.

Points are awarded as follows:

  • 1 point to each player for playing the match
  • 2 further points to the winning player
  • 1 extra point to the losing player if they lost on a tiebreak
  • Walk-Over ... one player cannot play the match ... 1 point only to the player who was able to play.

Ex .1: Win 6-3 you get 3 points opponent get 1 point

Ex. 2: Win 7-6 you get 3 points opponent get 2 points

Ex. 3: Walk-Over in your favour - You get 1 point your opponent gets 0 points.

Ex. 4: Walk-Over not sorted out. 0 points to both players.

The parent of the winning player is responsible for entering scores online within 24 hours of the match being played.

ARRANGING GAMES:

  • To facilitate arrangement of matches all players should make sure that their contact mobile no. is showing on the court booking system (Check your privacy settings when you sign in to court booking system)
  • It is a good idea if someone in your group sets up a Whatsapp group to help arrange matches. Telephone numbers of players can be found on the club website members page
  • If a person texts you to arrange games, please reply promptly
  • Please be fair to your opponent and give a walk-over if you can’t play and a person has made fair efforts to arrange a match with you.
  • If a person does not reply to any texts try calling – If there is no response by the closing date of the box you may take a Walk-Over
  • If you are unable to complete your matches through illness, injury or absence please let your fellow box members know and please update the box results to give your opponent a 1-0 walkover.

  • To sign on to the online booking system go to https://eltc.mycourts.co.uk/bookings.asp
  • Select "LEAGUES" from top menu
  • Select "JUNIOR BOX" to enter your scores
  • You can also click on other box members to see their contact details.
